A pretty good day
I started off by cleaning the pool, backwashing the pump, checking the chems, the usual. Then I mowed the lawn. Then I dug holes to stand up an arbor truss for the backyard gate entrance. Then I threw some baseball with my son Zach. Then we had a big bar-b-que with ribs, chicken, salad and of course: ice cold Corona with fresh limes. Afterwards, I took the kids (don’t freak, I was sober by then) up to Fort Story beach to walk around with the dog and chase crabs and pick up shells. That was around sunset and boy was it beautiful. I fell in love with Fort Story the month we moved to Virginia Beach, back in August 2000. When the sun is rising or setting and the breeze is warm, it’s like heaven fell on the Earth. The dolphins were out in full force today also. I counted about 12 in all. Even nicer was counting a total of 6 other people on the beach… the ENTIRE beach, as far as I could see. That’s typical at off-peak hours. Most of the idiot tourists flock to the sand during the hottest part of the day. Speaking of terrorists, I mean tourists (same thing, really), today marks the start of the invasion season here. The end being Labor Day weekend and the Neptune Festival thereafter. I love warm weather, but I hate tourists (I mean terrorists, oh yeah, same thing).
